About Dumbbell Fit

Hi everyone, and welcome to my website Dumbbell Fit.

So, why the name? Because in reality all you need to get fit, tone up, build muscle and burn fat is a decent set of dumbbells. Arguably almost every piece of resistance training equipment and its ultimate effect on the body – be it free weights, machines, resistance bands and the like – all stem from the dumbbell, which, in its earliest form dates back to Ancient Greece over 2000 years ago.

Over time this highly functional and versatile piece of equipment has evolved and developed into many other, alternative bits of kit which essentially all aim to achieve the same result the dumbbell was invented for – producing tension on the body. It’s this tension that will have you either building muscle, toning and firming up, burning fat, increasing your cardio endurance, or a combination of all four.

With so many alternative options to the dumbbell now available it would be remiss of me not to acknowledge and include them all on my site. When all’s said and done, how you work out, and what you work out with, is absolutely a matter of preference. It’s my job therefore to help you find what that is whilst  offering advice, tips and some of my personal recommendations along the way, all based on my 20 years experience of resistance training.

A Quick Bit About Me

Fitness and weight training has been a passion of mine since I first picked up a pair of dumbbells as a shy, awkward 17-year-old, and has been an important part of my life ever since. The confidence it’s given me and the knock-on effect it’s had, in all areas of my life, has been immeasurable.

With around two decades of experience lifting all kinds of weights and resistance bands – in both large commercial gyms and at home with limited space – I’ve come to learn what works depending on factors such as budget, room size, and ability level – whether your goal is to build muscle, burn fat, or increase endurance and get fitter overall.

There’s No ‘One Size Fits All’ Approach To Fitness

A set of dumbbells are a popular feature of many home gyms due to their functionality and versatility, but they’re not a one size fits all solution for everyone. There are so many different options available today – from dumbbells and barbells, to kettlebells, resistance bands and tubes and much more. With so much choice however, it can be difficult to decide what will work best for you and your individual fitness goals – because we’re all different and it’s not all about building big muscles! For some of you, it could be about adding some extra resistance to your cardio sessions to help tone and firm, or perhaps you’re looking for some weights more suited to help with rehab exercise, post-injury?

Then there are other individual factors to consider such as budget, how much space you have to work-out in, and even things you may initially overlook like how much storage space you have to stow your gym equipment away when not in use.

At Dumbbell Fit I’ve done the hard lifting (excuse the pun) for you and laid out, clearly and comprehensively, the best equipment available for your home gym – whatever your goal, fitness level or budget. Then I make recommendations, based on my own experience and those I trust, on the products I feel are best suited using a range of trustworthy and industry-leading companies.

Whether you’re a seasoned gym-goer or fitness fanatic, or you’re just starting out, getting fit – whatever your goal – is more than just about the equipment you use. It’s about setting goals, following effective workout plans, dialling in good nutrition and lots more. It doesn’t matter how much money you spend on weights, bands or benches, or whether you have access to the best gym (home or commercial) in the world, you need to lay good foundations for your hard work to pay off. After all who wants to go to lots of effort to see no results?
